Family planner

Family Time

Local family data and purpose

Family Time initially stores your family plan on your device. This includes names or nicknames, roles, colors and optional profile photos, tasks and events with times, recurrence rules, notes and person assignments, as well as personal calendars, custom categories, completion records, reward coins and reward cards, including redeemed cards. Stored data also includes meals with a day and meal type, favorites, named weekly templates and events explicitly saved in history with a title, date, note and category. Completion history may include the task title, completion time and the name of the person who completed it. This data supports planning, history and rewards. Local use does not require a masomas account. Family Time contains no advertising or third-party analytics or tracking services; we do not operate our own server for your plan content.

Photo selection, profile pictures and camera

Photos are optional. For profile pictures, event or meal plan imports and individually selected slideshow pictures, the system photo picker provides Family Time only with the images you choose; this selection does not require general photo library access. If your app version offers a direct slideshow link to an Apple Photos album or Favorites and you use it, Family Time requests additional photo permission. Full photo access is required for complete albums. The app then reads the album list and the selected album’s pictures for playback; it does not change original photos or album membership. The camera is used for profile pictures or photo import only with your permission. Profile pictures are stored as adjusted image copies in the family plan and transferred with it when iCloud sync is enabled. You can replace or remove them. Photo and camera access can be changed or revoked in iOS or iPadOS Settings. If a needed photo is stored only in iCloud Photos, Apple may download it to make it available on the device.

Importing events and meal plans from photos

When you photograph or select an image of a school timetable, work schedule or completed meal plan, Family Time processes it using Apple’s text recognition on your device. The import image, displayed crops and raw recognized text are not sent to masomas or an external AI service and are not permanently stored in the family plan. They are used for recognition and the preview, where you can compare and correct results.

Only when you choose “Apply” for events or “Import plan” for a meal plan are the selected entries saved: events with their times, repeat rules and calendar assignment, or meals with their day, meal type and text. You can also edit meal plan entries after importing them. If family plan sync is enabled, the saved data is shared through iCloud; the import photo is not transferred with it.

Personal calendars within the family plan

Personal calendars assign events to a person, such as a school timetable to a child or a work schedule to an adult. Stored data includes the calendar name, person assignment, validity period, visibility and associated events. These calendars are part of the family plan and are also transferred when iCloud sync is enabled. “Personal” describes the assignment to a person; it does not restrict access by other participants in the shared plan. Hiding a calendar does not remove it from the shared plan either.

Optional Apple Calendar connection

With your permission, Family Time uses iOS or iPadOS calendar access, lists available calendars for selection and reads events from the calendars you connect. Data may include titles, start and end times, recurrence rules, notes and locations. In writable calendars, the app can create, change or delete events; you can also transfer events from the family plan to a connected calendar. The calendar provider processes and syncs these contents according to your account settings and its privacy policy.

For display alone, the contents of connected Apple calendars are loaded and are not copied as complete events into the family plan. Explicit snapshots created with “Save in history” are separate and described below. However, Family Time stores its own person assignments and symbols for these events, technical matching identifiers and, where applicable, references to individual recurring occurrences. These additional details may be synced with the family plan through iCloud. Calendar connections themselves are configured on each device. Disconnecting a calendar does not delete events held by the calendar provider; system access can be revoked in device settings.

Events saved in history

Choosing “Save in history” explicitly stores a separate snapshot of an event in the family plan. It includes the title, event date, note, category and a technical identifier linking it to the original event. Depending on the app version, the snapshot also stores the symbol, recurrence details, end date, and the identifiers and names of assigned people at the time. This also applies to events from connected Apple calendars. When iCloud sync is enabled, these saved details are shared with the family plan.

Later changes to the calendar event, or deleting it, do not update or remove this snapshot. You can change its category directly in history or remove the saved entry using “Remove from history”. The original calendar event remains. To save an updated title, date or note, remove the saved entry and save the event again.

Optional iCloud sync and sharing

Family Time transfers plan content through Apple iCloud (CloudKit) only when you set up iCloud for the family plan, adopt an existing iCloud plan or join a shared plan. Once configured, sync may continue automatically. This feature requires an Apple Account and lets you use the plan on your own devices and with invited people. Transferred data includes the family data described above, including profile pictures, personal calendars, completion history, rewards including redeemed cards, meal plans, favorites, weekly templates, saved events and additional event assignments. Technical plan, device and change identifiers allow changes and deletions to be reconciled across devices; they are not used for advertising or usage analytics.

The plan is stored in the private or shared iCloud area and is not published publicly. Invited people can access the shared plan according to their sharing permissions. In adult mode, you can manage invitations and participants through the sharing controls under “Family → iCloud & Family Plan”. Apple processes the service and account data required for iCloud under its own privacy policy.

PDF export and printing

PDF files for timetables, meal plans and reward cards may contain names and the corresponding plan or reward content. Family Time creates them on your device. With “Save to Files”, “Share PDF” or the system print dialog, you choose where to save them and which service, recipient or printer to share them with. Saved or shared PDF files are not automatically updated or removed when the family plan changes later.

Slideshow and settings on this device

For the iPad slideshow, you select pictures from Apple Photos. Family Time stores smaller copies in local app storage. If your app version also offers a direct album source, you can instead link an Apple Photos album, including Favorites. With that source, pictures are loaded from Apple Photos for playback and album changes are reflected automatically; your previous individual picture selection is retained when switching sources. Pictures and any stored album identifier and source choice are not synced with the family plan. Under “Family → This Device → Slideshow”, you can remove local picture copies and switch sources where offered; originals and albums in Apple Photos remain unchanged. Slideshow, quiet hours and dimming settings, as well as local display and interaction preferences, also remain on the respective device. For the automatic slideshow and dimming, the app temporarily tracks the time since the last interaction; this is not used to create usage profiles.

Local information for review reminders

To ask for an App Store review only occasionally, the app stores the time of first use recorded by this feature, up to three distinct days of use, and the time of the last review request attempt on this device. This information is not synced with the family plan or sent to masomas. The app does not store whether or how you actually reviewed it.

Optional ideas and feedback

If your app version offers sending ideas or feedback, you can explicitly send us a message about a suggestion collection in adult mode. The following details about drafts and the receiving service apply only when you use this feature. The submission contains your message, the selected collection and, where applicable, the identifier and title of a built-in template, the app language and a random submission identifier. A suitable age group for the suggested idea and an email address for a reply are optional. Family profiles, your own tasks, events, photos and other family plan content are not attached automatically. Please do not enter children’s names or other personal information that is unnecessary for your idea in the message.

The app stores drafts that have not yet been successfully submitted separately from the family plan on this device. They are not synced with the family and are excluded from device backups. A draft is removed when you explicitly discard it or our receiving service confirms acceptance. It expires 30 days after it was last saved locally and is deleted the next time the draft store is accessed. The app does not send drafts automatically in the background.

After you choose “Send”, Cloudflare processes the feedback over an encrypted connection, stores it with the receipt time and sending status, and forwards it to our support mailbox. We use Cloudflare Workers, D1 and Email Routing for this; the support mailbox is hosted by Apple iCloud Mail. Your feedback is not displayed publicly. Our receiving service removes operational feedback data after 30 days during its next regular cleanup. Automatic database backups may retain deleted data for up to seven additional days. The copy in the support mailbox is deleted after the request has been fully handled as described above, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

To protect against excessive submissions, the IP address used for the connection is transformed into an identifier that changes daily and is calculated using a secret key to limit submissions. Our receiving service removes this identifier from the active database at the next regular cleanup after no more than two days; it does not store the original IP address or message content in its application logs. Cloudflare may independently process technical connection and security data. The information about Cloudflare, possible transfers outside the EEA and transfer safeguards in the Website section also applies to this receiving service. We process your optional feedback to handle your enquiry and improve the app, and technical protection data to prevent abuse, on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. These purposes constitute our legitimate interests. Your rights and our contact address are set out below.

Use by children

Adults set up family profiles and sharing. A nickname is sufficient; a profile photo is not required. Information about children, their tasks and rewards is used solely for the family features described here. Child mode limits the available controls, but does not create a separate private data area within a shared family plan.

Retention, history, backups and deletion

Plan content is retained for use and can be changed or removed through the respective editing functions. Deleting a task or family profile does not automatically remove earlier completion records: history may still contain previous task titles, names and times. Events saved in history remain after their source event is deleted, until you explicitly remove them from history. Redeemed reward cards remain in reward history with their date and the number of coins spent. Technical deletion markers may remain in the plan to sync deletions.

When adopting another iCloud plan, the app keeps a local backup of the previous device plan. When you replace an existing iCloud plan with the device plan, the previous iCloud plan is also backed up on this device. These recovery copies may contain earlier names, profile pictures and plan content. Later changes or deletions in the current plan do not update the backups. They remain until replaced by a later backup or until the app is deleted.

“Disconnect this device” stops sync on this device and keeps the current plan as a local copy. It does not delete the iCloud plan or copies on other devices, nor does it end sharing for other participants. Deleting the app removes plans, backups and slideshow pictures stored locally in its app storage; content in iCloud, with calendar providers and in existing backups is separate. Device or iCloud backups may include local app data even when family plan sync is disabled. Their management depends on your device settings and Apple’s rules.

Legal basis and contact

Processing to provide the app features you request is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Photos, camera access, Apple calendars and iCloud sync are optional; required system permissions can be changed in device settings. Features that do not depend on those permissions remain available. We have no administrative access of our own to view or centrally delete plan content stored exclusively on your devices or in your private or shared iCloud area. For privacy enquiries, contact [email protected]. Your rights are explained under Retention and your rights.
